Hatfield and Hawkins-Row Push through to eventful Race 2 Victory

May 15, 2018

Adam Hatfield partnered up with Callum Hawkins-Row for Round 2 of the Dunlop Endurance Championship on the Silverstone GP circuit, Callum who took the place of the unavailable Darron Lewis is currently racing in British GT and a 2016 Dunlop Endurance championship Race winner.

The pairing had a tricky start to Saturdays racing both struggling with the setup of the car, but respectively put the 285 Ginetta 4th in class for the first race and comfortably cruising home to a 4th place in class in the 50 minute race!

Race 2 was much more eventful, Hatfield started the race which began dry, and started to put in consistent quick lap times, half way through his stint in the two hour endurance race the rain started to come down making the track more and more challenging as time went on, eventually the challenge become to much and the safety car was deployed in which Hatfield made the call to pit for wets, Adam used on through to get the 285 Ginetta back through the back before the pitstop. Callum then took over and began to progress even further, and got the Ginetta into 3rd place, problems for the two cars in front meant Hatfield and Hawkins-Row went on to take the lead of the race and Callum went and brought it home despite suffering tyre degradation near the end of his stint.

Following the weekends racing Adam had this to say...

" We had such a tricky start to the day I thought we were in for a challenging days racing that might just be damage limitation, then the rain came down in race 2 and it was a real leveller! We made the call to change to wets at the right time and just started to pick our way through!

When the driver change happened Callum did a mega job to keep it on the track and just to keep us in contention, and we eventually inherited the lead and he brought it home!

It certainly was a surprise to get the class win but a welcome one for sure and it certainly does our title aspirations the world of good, I look forward to seeing how we get on at Oulton Park with Darron back in the car"

Round 3 of the Dunlop Endurance Championship will be at Oulton Park on the 23rd of June.
